Supporters of the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, stormed the speaker’s Lodge at Joel Ogunnaike Street, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday morning.
The supporters assembled, wearing pro-Obasa vests and caps.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the supporters who wore pro-Obasa vests and caps gathered to welcome Obasa who was abroad at the time of his impeachment.
Armed security personnel, including policemen, are present at the scene to maintain order.
Recall that Obasa was impeached on January 13 by more than two-thirds of the 40-member legislative house over alleged misconduct and sundry offences.
His deputy, Mojisola Meranda, was immediately elected the new Speaker, becoming the first female to take charge of the legislative body in the South-West state.
Obasa, from Agege Constituency I, was first elected into the House in 2007. He has since been in the chamber since then. He emerged speaker in June 2015.
