The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has renamed its Academy Administrative Department in honor of Aminu Salisu, an officer who was tragically killed in the line of duty.
Salisu, an Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC, was fatally shot on January 17 by a suspected internet fraudster, Joshua Ikechukwu, in Anambra State.
Announcing the decision during the commission’s 2024 Rewards and Recognition Awards in Abuja, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede vowed that Salisu’s killer would face the full weight of the law.
Olukoyede emphasized the commission’s commitment to recognizing the sacrifices of its officers, particularly those who lost their lives or sustained injuries while fighting financial crimes.
He said, “We will not forget the sacrifices of our officers. For every life lost or injury sustained in the line of duty, we will provide support to the officers’ families. In honor of Aminu Salisu, I am directing that the administrative building at EFCC Academy, Karu, be named after him.”
The EFCC Chairman reiterated the commission’s determination to continue its fight against financial crimes despite challenges and opposition.
He also commended award-winning staff members for their efforts and urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to combating financial crimes.
