A former Lagos state lawmaker, Olumuyiwa Jimoh, has said that Mudashiru Obasa should be suspended from the legislative arm.
Speaking on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television, on Monday, Jimoh described Obasa’s insistence on remaining speaker as an “impersonation.”
“Obasa’s assertion that he is still speaker has serious implications, including automatic suspension,” Jimoh said. “As a former member, I would move for his suspension.”
Jimoh emphasized that Obasa’s presence in the house is not required for his removal as speaker, citing Section 92, Subsection 2 of the constitution.
The former lawmaker alleged that Obasa orchestrated his removal as deputy majority leader. “I was not notified, and members were coerced into signing for my removal.”
Jimoh attributed his removal to his opposition to Obasa’s “anti-democratic and anti-due process” policies.
He called for anti-graft agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), to investigate Obasa over financial allegations.
