- These rumours intensified after el-Rufai failed to pass the ministerial screening process.

The special adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, has accused Nasir el-Rufai of attempting to overthrow the current administration.
Bwala’s comments came after el-Rufai criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for allegedly abandoning its core values and promoting ineffective leadership.
El-Rufai, a former Kaduna state governor, spoke at a national conference in Abuja, highlighting the growing divide between himself and the party.
He stated that the party’s various organs have not held meetings, and the leadership is running the APC like a “one-man show”.
In a counter statement on Tuesday, Bwala responded by questioning whether el-Rufai would have expressed the same views if he were in government.
Bwala noted that el-Rufai participated in forming the current government but now seeks to overthrow it.
“My Senior brother, if you were to be in the government and cabinet, would you have held and expressed the same position?
“History is replete with examples. It is a government you participated in its formation, that you now want to unseat,” Bwala posted on X.
