Kano State Board of Internal Revenue Service

The Kano State Board of Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) has sealed Grand Central Hotel and four other businesses for failing to remit Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and other outstanding taxes.

The affected firms include Grand Central Hotel, Nikita Textile Limited, Fursa Foods Limited, Next Door, and SKY.

Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Director of Debt Management and Enforcement, led the enforcement team. He explained that the action followed repeated failure by the businesses to respond to several notices sent by KIRS.

A court order was obtained to seal the premises as part of measures to enforce compliance with tax obligations.

Abdullahi stated, “Grand Central Hotel owes over N14 million in taxes, while Nikita Textile Limited has over N229 million in unpaid taxes. The other businesses were also sealed for not remitting their expected tax payments to the state.”

He emphasized that the KIRS is committed to closing revenue gaps and ensuring enhanced tax collection for the state.

The director added that the sealed businesses will only be reopened after their outstanding liabilities are fully paid.
