- Spain’s Euro 2024-winning coach Luis de la Fuente extends national team contract, covering 2026 World Cup and Euro 2028
- De la Fuente’s contract renewal follows recent achievements, including Nations League victory and Euro 2024 championship triumph
Spain’s Euro 2024-winning coach, Luis de la Fuente, has extended his contract with the Spanish football federation until 2028. The announcement on Monday marked a significant commitment to the 63-year-old’s leadership.
De la Fuente, who has held the position since 2022, led Spain to two major achievements—winning the Nations League in 2023 and defeating England in the Euro 2024 final.
His extended contract will now cover the 2026 World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, as well as Euro 2028, hosted by Britain and Ireland.
De la Fuente expressed his determination to continue improving at a press conference. “I am my biggest critic, and I’m always ready to take risks if I believe in something,” he said.
“I will stay on the same path that brought us success, working to grow and achieve even more.”
The extension reflects confidence in De la Fuente’s ability to build on Spain’s recent successes and maintain its competitive edge on the global stage.
