- Protesters demand immediate release of Sowore, critics of the government
Former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore on Wednesday appeared at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had filed charges against Sowore for calling him an “illegal IGP.”
The activist is standing trial before Justice Liman of the FCT High Court and was docked at about 10:00 am when the charges were read to him.
Sowore however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Meanwhile, several of his followers had protested in front of the court over Sowore’s arraignment.
The protesters under the #EndBadGovernance movement accused security forces of intimidation while demanding the immediate release of activist and journalist Omoyele Sowore.
They are also asking for the striking out of all cases against critics of the government.
