Mob Sets Man Ablaze for Allegedly Beheading Woman in Delta State

Community vigilantes arrested him as he arrived home

A man identified as Oghenero was burned to death by enraged youths in the Otor-Owhe community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, on Tuesday, after allegedly beheading a woman.

According to local sources, the victim, who was from Emevor and Orogun, had reportedly slapped Oghenero’s mother during an argument. In retaliation, Oghenero allegedly tracked the woman to a farm, beheaded her, and brought her head home in a polythene bag.

Community vigilantes arrested him as he arrived home, shooting him in the legs when he attempted to escape. He was later set on fire by an angry mob.

The Delta State Police Command has yet to comment on the incident. Calls and messages to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, were unanswered at the time of this report.
