- At his Golden Jubilee celebration, Fubara emphasizes maintaining his core values of faith, respect, and unwavering commitment to governance
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has assured the people that he will not be influenced by power or allow the privileges of his position to change his values.
At his 50th birthday celebration at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his promises to transform the state.
Fubara, who leaders, elders, and stakeholders visited, expressed gratitude for their support. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, he said:
“I will still be the Fubara you know; power will not change me. I will continue to uphold my faith in God and respect for people. Power comes and goes, but my commitment to developing Rivers State remains unwavering.”
The governor, who usually does not celebrate birthdays, said the gathering of leaders brought tears of joy to his eyes.
“This is not a day for politics. I am grateful to celebrate my Golden Jubilee. I have officially joined the league of the elders,” he added.
Former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia, praised Fubara, describing him as the state’s “deliverer” from forces working against its progress.
Similarly, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, stated that while kingmakers play a role, once a leader is chosen, they must step aside to allow governance to take its course.
