MOUAU Student Dies After Collapsing During Football Game

A 300-level student of Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Arua Jasper, has died after collapsing during a football game.

According to sources, Jasper, a Computer Engineering student, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Umuahia on Wednesday but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Witnesses allege that the ambulance transporting him broke down due to fuel shortage and that the hospital lacked basic emergency equipment like a defibrillator.

It was gathered that Jasper had recently undergone surgery and had struggled with obesity. The Students’ Union Government (SUG) Public Relations Officer, Comr. Odim Onuoha, said he received the news on Thursday and was still gathering more details.
