President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic mid-air collision between a helicopter carrying soldiers and a commercial plane in the Potomac area of Washington, D.C., United States.

The accident, which occurred on Wednesday evening, claimed the lives of over 60 people.

In a message posted on his verified X handle, @officialABAT, on Thursday, Tinubu extended condolences to the victims and their families, describing the incident as devastating.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident in Washington, D.C.,” he wrote.

On behalf of Nigeria, the President conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the people of the United States and all those affected by the tragedy.

He also praised the emergency response teams for their swift and courageous efforts in handling difficult situations.

“I commend the courageous efforts of first responders and emergency teams for their selfless work in harsh conditions,” he stated.
