The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha Garba, has met with the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, to discuss strategic initiatives to improve educational access and security across Nigeria.
A statement released on Sunday in Abuja by UBEC’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. David Apeh, highlighted that the meeting focused on addressing key challenges, particularly ensuring the safety of schools in vulnerable areas and promoting equitable education for all children.
According to the statement, the discussion emphasized the critical link between education and national security, stressing the need for collaboration between UBEC and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to enhance access to basic education and create safer learning environments nationwide.
“This collaboration reaffirms the government’s commitment to fostering a secure and inclusive learning environment as part of its broader agenda to strengthen the nation’s educational framework,” the statement read.
Earlier, the UBEC Executive Secretary pledged to engage key stakeholders in breaking down barriers to education and fostering inclusive learning opportunities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
