- Malam Nasir El-Rufai defended Hajia Naja’atu Muhammad, mocking Nuhu Ribadu’s denial of past criticism against President Bola Tinubu
- Ribadu demanded a retraction from Muhammad, who alleged he hypocritically serves in Tinubu’s administration after previously condemning him as corrupt
Former Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has intervened in the ongoing dispute between National Security Adviser (NSA) Malam Nuhu Ribadu and Hajia Naja’atu Muhammad, a former Police Service Commission (PSC) Commissioner.
Ribadu demanded a public apology and retraction from Muhammad, whom he accused of making false claims in a TikTok video.
In the video, Muhammad alleged that Ribadu now serves in President Bola Tinubu’s administration despite criticizing him when he was Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
However, in a letter from his lawyer, Dr. Ahmed Raji, SAN, Ribadu denied ever making such statements, either publicly or privately. He described the damage caused by the TikTok video as immeasurable.
“Clearly, in your recording, you claimed that our client, as EFCC Chairman, named President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sen. George Akume, and Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu as the governors who stole the most from the public treasury.
“You further stated that today, our client, who once held this negative view of President Tinubu, is now his staunchest defender. You also suggested that his alleged shift in attitude indicates either deceit or dishonesty.”
The letter, dated February 4, 2025, and signed by Dr. Raji, insisted that Muhammad’s claims were baseless.
Standing by her statements, Muhammad refused to apologize, saying records support her claims.
El-Rufai, in defense of Muhammad, mocked Ribadu, stating, “Nuhu must have serious amnesia.”
Amnesia is the loss of memories, including facts, information, and experiences.
“The Senate records confirm Nuhu made those statements in 2006. A February 2007 Daily Trust report further supports this.
“In 2006, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) documented similar allegations, which can be subpoenaed from the Cabinet Secretariat. During a Special FEC meeting, Nuhu’s EFCC presented accusations against many sitting officials.
“These records will eliminate all doubts. At some point in our national life, silence is no longer golden.”
