- Following its successful rollout in Canada, the system allows eligible Nigerians in Europe to renew their passports entirely online
The Nigerian government has launched a Contactless Passport Renewal System across Europe, aiming to enhance transparency and efficiency in passport services without compromising national security.
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced the initiative in a statement on Friday, describing it as a major step in national service reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Following its successful rollout in Canada, the system allows eligible Nigerians in Europe to renew their passports entirely online, eliminating the need for travel or long waiting times.
“This innovative system removes traditional hurdles and brings the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) directly to your digital doorstep,” Tunji-Ojo said.
He assured Nigerians that the government remains committed to expanding digital reforms to improve service delivery both at home and abroad.
