- Bello Turji, a notorious terrorist leader, is reportedly fleeing in Zamfara State as military operations intensify, eliminating key commanders
- The military is dismantling terrorist networks, vowing to sustain momentum until all terrorist elements are neutralized and security is restored
Nigerian terrorist leader Bello Turji is reportedly fleeing as military forces ramp up operations against bandit strongholds in Zamfara State. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, confirmed this development.
The latest military offensive has already eliminated two of Turji’s top lieutenants, Kachalla Gwammade and Kachalla Shehu, in a decisive strike on Thursday night. Their deaths have reportedly caused panic within Turji’s ranks, forcing him and his men to seek urgent escape routes.
Speaking at the CDS Joint Task Force Commanders Conference in Abuja on Friday, Musa revealed that fresh offensives in Tufan and Mashima villages have further weakened armed groups, pushing them deeper into the forests.
“In a symbolic move against banditry, security forces revisited Bello Turji’s former stronghold,” Musa stated. “The remaining sections of his camp, previously targeted in past operations, were completely destroyed.”
Both Turji and his close associate, Sani Black, are now desperately trying to evade capture as the military keeps up the pressure.
Musa emphasized that these operations send a strong message to criminal factions nationwide—the era of unchecked lawlessness is ending.
“For years, terrorists and criminals exploited our country’s rough terrain to establish fortified hideouts and launch deadly attacks,” he said. “But with this renewed military effort, things are changing. Ground troops are advancing, and airstrikes are dismantling terror networks.”
He assured Nigerians that elite forces from land, air, and maritime units are working together to enhance national security.
As the battle against terrorism continues, Musa urged military commanders to remain focused, acknowledging the scale of their mission.
“Our forces will keep this momentum until all terrorist elements are eliminated,” he vowed.
