- Prof. Cyril Ndifon, UNICAL’s suspended law dean, denied soliciting nude photos from a student, calling her “like a daughter”
- Ndifon refuted the ICPC’s evidence, claiming the conversations, images, and videos presented in court were edited and not his
Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), has denied allegations that he requested nude photographs from a female student.
Ndifon made this statement on Wednesday while being cross-examined by Osuobeni Akponimisingha, counsel for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The ICPC arraigned Ndifon on charges of sexual harassment, cybercrime, and attempting to obstruct justice. His lawyer, Samuel Anyanwu, was also charged alongside him.
According to the ICPC, Ndifon allegedly asked a female student, a key witness in the case, to send him “pornographic, indecent, and obscene photographs” via WhatsApp while serving as Dean at UNICAL.
However, during the hearing, Ndifon described the student, identified as TKJ, as being like a daughter to him.
“I got to know her through her uncle. She never sent me nude pictures, and I never asked for them,” Ndifon stated.
He also refuted claims that the conversations, images, and videos presented by the ICPC came from his phone.
“They are not mine. If you examine them, they have been edited. I have no idea where these conversations and videos originated,” he added.
Justice James Omotosho adjourned the case until Thursday for further hearings.
