- Rep. Sada Soli said President Tinubu received poor advice on the tax reform bills, which lacked professional input and due process
- Soli noted Tinubu addressed the issue by subjecting the bills to scrutiny and consulting with governors, the Senate, and House members
Hon. Sada Soli, representing Jibia/Kaita Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received poor advice on the tax reform bills.
Soli made this remark on Wednesday during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
He explained that the North supported the bill in the overall interest of Nigeria but criticized its drafting process.
According to Soli, the bill lacked professional input and did not follow due process.
“Let’s be fair to Mr. President. To make decisions, he relies on advice. Unfortunately, I believe he was poorly advised. The people who drafted these bills did a poor job, referring to them as acts. When I read them, I could tell they were not professionally drafted,” he said.
He emphasized that Tinubu, known for his political experience and inclusivity, took steps to address the issue when he realized the bills could create problems.
“He subjected the bills to scrutiny. Governors reviewed them. He instructed the Senate to consult with the Attorney General. He also discussed with the Speaker and House members to ensure a thorough review before considering them,” Soli added.
