Betty advises Nigerians facing health crises to seek medical attention from specialist doctors, as “prayers don’t cure cancer”
Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, wife of the late Rotimi Akeredolu, former Ondo State Governor, has stated that her husband might have survived if he had followed her advice.
Akeredolu (SAN) passed away on December 27, 2023, due to complications from prostate cancer.
In an interview with Star News publisher, Olumide Akinrinlola, on Thursday, Mrs. Akeredolu revealed that her husband chose to follow the guidance of spiritualists and pastors instead of seeking proper medical care.
“What did their mountain climbing, blessed handkerchiefs, water, olive oil, and all those noisy prayers achieve? If Aketi had listened to me, I wouldn’t be a widow,” she said.
She advised Nigerians facing health challenges to prioritize medical treatment over faith healing.
“A pastor is not a doctor; he knows nothing about cancer. He can only pray, and prayers don’t cure cancer. Consult a specialist doctor,” she emphasized.
When asked about President Bola Tinubu’s administration, she remarked, “Only those benefiting would say otherwise. You don’t need a soothsayer to see that things are not well in the country.”
