Governor Uba Sani officially welcomed over 22 key political figures from opposition parties and their supporters into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday at the party’s zonal rally in Kafanchan.

The rally at New Choice Hall attracted thousands of APC supporters from Southern Kaduna. Prominent political leaders from across the state also attended, affirming their confidence in Governor Uba Sani’s administration.

The defectors were serving and former federal legislators, Kaduna State House of Assembly members, ex-council chairmen, state party leaders, and opposition party flagbearers.

Notable figures who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) include Senator Danjuma Laar, former senator representing Zone 3, Godfrey Ali Gaiya, a former House of Representatives member, and Ado Dogo Audu, a three-time House of Representatives member.

Amos Gwamna Magaji, representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, and Donatus K. Mathew, representing Kaura Federal Constituency, also defected to APC.

Kaduna State lawmakers like Henry Marah Zakarieh (Jaba Constituency), Samuel Kambai Koza (Zango Constituency), and Barrister Emmanuel Kantiok (Zonkwa Constituency) joined APC as well.

Former Jemaa Local Government Chairman Mikiah Tokwak, ex-Vice Chairman Sunday Baba, and former Kauru Local Government Chairman Paul Wani are now APC members.

Similarly, Shehu Tafarke, former PDP Chairman in Kagarko Local Government, ex-NNPP state chairmen Ben Kure and his successor Nuhu Audu, have joined APC. Labour Party’s state chairman, Isah Ciroma, also switched allegiance.

At the event, Governor Uba Sani declared that APC is now gaining dominance in Southern Kaduna, an area previously controlled by PDP. He attributed this shift to his administration’s commitment to justice and fairness.

The Governor emphasized that governance should take priority over politics after elections. He stressed that his leadership aims to ensure peaceful coexistence and even development across Kaduna State.

Governor Uba Sani further noted that without peace, development would be impossible. He added that President Bola Tinubu supports Kaduna’s progress and envisions the state as a model for peaceful coexistence.

The Governor also revealed that President Tinubu recently assured him that the Kaduna Light Rail project and the Kwoi-Kafanchan road have been included in the 2025 budget.
