The Ogun police command has taken 20 suspects into custody for allegedly carrying hazardous items near the Ogun-Oyo border.

Omolola Odutola, Ogun police spokesperson, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended during a routine patrol led by Lanre Ogunlowo, Ogun’s police commissioner.

Odutola explained that the suspects, who exited a truck, were detained after failing to provide a coherent destination or plausible explanation for their journey.

“The youths were intercepted during CP Ogunlowo’s routine weekend patrol along the Eledumare, Bamboo, Fidiwo, Foursquare, Alapako and Onigari axis, all within Ogun and bordering Oyo state,” the statement reads.

“He observed that the group did not declare a clear destination and satisfactory explanation for their movement.

“Acting on his sound professional instincts, he ordered a search of their persons and belongings and dangerous weapons were recovered, which included daggers, knives, cutlasses and objects suspected to be charms, among others.”

Odutola stated that the police commissioner directed the suspects’ detention and profiling after uncovering questionable items in their possession.

The spokesperson noted that Ogunlowo instructed that anyone found culpable be prosecuted, while reaffirming his dedication to proactive law enforcement and community collaboration.

The police commissioner urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station for swift action.
