President Bola Tinubu has approved the relocation of 29 correctional centres from urban areas across the country.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this known on Friday during the unveiling of some operational vehicles for the Nigerian Correctional Service.
The Minister commissioned 39 mini green maria for the conveyance of inmates to and from courts, and five bullet resistance guard boots at the headquarters of the Nigeria Correctional Service NCoS in Abuja.
In another development, the President has given his approval for the establishment of two new federal universities in Nigeria.
The institutions are the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti, and the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji, Osun State.
According to Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the President’s approval is a significant milestone in the administration’s efforts to tackle food insecurity and climate change challenges.
