Okpebholo revealed that Senator Oshiomhole was unaware of his son’s appointment as Commissioner for Health, surprising him after the announcement
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has stated that the system will investigate past governors of the state.
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Okpebholo denied personally initiating the probe against former governors.
“I am not the one probing them. The system will probe them. The money tied to one thing or the other will eventually come out. When I assumed office, I used my money to buy my seat. Obaseki took his seat—the chair in the office with the Nigerian coat of arms. He took it. If someone can take the office chair, tell me what he wouldn’t take,” Okpebholo said.
The governor also revealed that Senator Adams Oshiomhole was unaware he would appoint his son, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, as the state’s Commissioner for Health.
He stated that Oshiomhole was surprised when he saw his son’s name on the commissioner list.
“He is a medical doctor. Oshiomhole didn’t know I was appointing his son. The name was already out because I carefully selected them. I chose the SSG. People hardly know him, but he is focused. I picked him because the health sector is very critical.
“The first three appointments I made were very strategic. They are seasoned individuals with great minds. Oshiomhole didn’t know I was appointing his son, but I informed him after the announcement. He was shocked,” Okpebholo added.
