Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, says his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not a reality that can be ruled out.
This is even as he said he is more than qualified to run for the presidency but he is not nursing such ambition at the moment.
He spoke on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Monday evening while commenting on his recent meetings with opposition figures.
He stated that he could leave the APC if the party does not course-correct and return to its founding ideals and principles.
Lately, El-Rufai met with some members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kaduna State. He also held meetings with former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
However, the former governor dismissed the possibility of joining PDP.
According to El-Rufai: “Anyone from the age of 35 with a secondary school certificate is qualified to run for president, so in that sense, I am qualified.
“But have I started talking to anybody about running for any office? No. I have never discussed that with anybody.
“PDP is not a party I would consider joining. I thought about it long ago and made my decision. Nothing has changed.”
