The police aim to reduce crime rates by 50% in 2025 through a comprehensive action plan
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated the need for stronger synergy among security agencies to combat crime effectively in Nigeria.
Speaking in Abeokuta, Ogun State, at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasized that collaboration among security forces is crucial in tackling banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities.
He assured that his administration remains committed to supporting the police in maintaining national security and unity.
Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun stated that the conference serves as an essential platform for reviewing the police’s administrative and operational strategies.
He highlighted the importance of exchanging insights and aligning policing objectives with the evolving security landscape in Nigeria.
“Moving forward, all commands and formations have been mandated to implement a comprehensive action plan to reduce crime rates by 50 percent in 2025,” Egbetokun announced.
Douglas Kirocho, Inspector General of the National Police Service of Kenya and President of the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL), advocated for inclusive policing and stronger collaboration among African nations to enhance security and economic development.
