- It remains unclear if any payment was made to secure his release
A former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maharazu Tsiga, has been released after spending 22 days in captivity.
A source confirmed to Channels Television on Friday night that Tsiga was freed and is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital for security reasons.
The retired general was abducted by gunmen led by the notorious bandit kingpin, Babaro, who reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦250 million. However, it remains unclear if any payment was made to secure his release.
As of now, neither government officials nor security agencies, including the Katsina State Police Command, have commented on the circumstances surrounding his freedom.
