The National President of the Afenifere Youth Council Eniola Olajuni has regained his freedom.
Olajuni, who confirmed his release in a short video he shared on X, regained his freedom after 12 days in captivity.
“I have been released,” he said while being driven in a car, “I was released in Ibilo, Edo State. I was released this evening.”
Olajuni was kidnapped on Monday, 17 February 2025, on his way to Abuja for a meeting.
His abductors demanded N100 million and two tricycles as ransom for his release.
Last week a video of him in the kidnappers’ den went viral on the Internet. In the video showing him at gun point, he pleaded with members of the public to come to his aid and help with payment of his ransom.
On Wednesday, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the deployment of the Intelligence Response Team, IRT, to secure Olajuni’s safe release.
