Operatives from the Abia police command have allegedly discovered the bodies of three people, including an officer, following a deadly attack and abduction in Azumini Ndoki, Ukwa East LGA.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency platform covering the Lake Chad area, cited intelligence reports indicating the victims were taken on 4 March when gunmen in a Toyota Sienna ambushed a convoy escorting Obasi Lawson, a businessman.
The report stated that the assailants fatally shot the driver and another passenger before escaping with Obasi Lawson, a businessman, and a police officer assigned to his security detail.
Makama revealed that after an extensive search lasting several days, police operatives recovered two bodies on 8 March, which were later identified as the driver and a civilian passenger.
The publication reported that additional inquiries resulted in the discovery of Tanko Natip’s body in a nearby forest; Natip, an assistant superintendent of police (ASP), was photographed and taken to Okeikpe Mortuary in Ukwa West for safekeeping.
It further stated that Lawson’s location remains unknown, while tactical teams, using tracking devices, persist in their efforts to locate him.
The source mentioned that security measures have been intensified in the region, with additional tactical teams deployed to prevent further incidents and closely observe the suspected kidnappers’ movements.
