SDP’s Adebayo: I will run for presidency in 2027 — Tinubu will be removed

Adebayo said SDP is not engaged in any discussions regarding a coalition with other political entities.

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has announced his intentions to be the standard bearer of the party in 2027 polls.

Adebayo’s announcement was made at a time when numerous politicians were leaving their former parties to join the SDP, increasing the party’s political presence.

Earlier this week, the immediate-past governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasiru el-Rufai, officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and decided to become a member of the SDP.

While appearing on Arise TV’s ‘Morning Show’ on Friday, Adebayo made it clear that no matter how influential those joining the party are, he remains its candidate.

“Let us understand something. I don’t worry about that; everybody who is coming in knows I will run in 2027.”

He continued, “Any coward who will feel threatened by people coming to his party cannot be president.”

Additionally, Adebayo predicted that President Bola Tinubu would not win the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that an SDP candidate would take office instead.

“Tinubu is going to be removed from power, that one is sure, and there would be an SDP president,” he asserted.

Addressing the topic of a coalition among opposition figures, Adebayo mentioned that the SDP has not initiated talks but is open to discussions.
