INEC sets up election project plan committee for 2027 polls

Chaired by Prof. Rhoda H. Gumus, the committee is tasked with developing a comprehensive roadmap to ensure a seamless electoral process.

As part of its preliminary groundwork for the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has established the Election Project Plan Committee (EPPC) to oversee strategic election planning.

The committee convened its first session earlier this week in Abuja to deliberate on structuring a well-coordinated electoral process.

Headed by Prof. Rhoda H. Gumus, the committee has been assigned the responsibility of crafting a detailed strategy to ensure a smooth electoral process.

Its duties include examining the Terms of Reference, formulating a work schedule, forming sub-committees, drafting an Elections Project Plan (EPP) Template, and determining deadlines for submissions.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Gumus underlined that proactive planning is essential to strengthening Nigeria’s electoral system and ensuring credible elections.

She urged committee members to execute their responsibilities with dedication to maintain electoral integrity, transparency, and public confidence in the process.
