The Anambra state commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arranged refresher training on handling firearms to enhance the expertise of its personnel.
During the session, the state commandant, Maku Olatunde, emphasised the necessity of correct and secure weapon handling, cautioning that even a minor mistake could lead to fatal consequences.
In a press release on Saturday, the command’s Head, Media and Tactical Operations, Okadigbo Edwin, mentioned that the refresher training aimed to improve personnel’s shooting accuracy and firearm skills.
He stated that the training initiative was designed to fulfil the overarching objectives of the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, to develop competent, courageous, and proficient civil defenders.
The statement read in part, “The goal of this training is to align with the idea of providing refresher courses to enhance the skills and knowledge of personnel in weapon handling.”

“We urged participants to put the knowledge and skills acquired during the training into practice. This would enable them to effectively tackle and mitigate security threats within their respective areas of responsibility.”
