- Wike condemned actions that could tarnish the government’s reputation.
- He promised to personally inspect the resettlement site and resolve the issue.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has warned that he might dismiss the acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda.
Wike made this statement during a discussion with leaders of Gishiri village, Katampe District, Abuja, where some homes were removed to allow a road construction project.
He explained that his warning stemmed from Dauda’s inadequate management of the resettlement process and the failure to properly compensate those affected.
It was learnt that Dauda’s problem started when the Youth Leader of the community, Adamu Umar, informed the minister that FCDA officials assigned them marshy land.
“Let me warn you now. I will sack you. You want to go and take the land? You can’t try that.”
“You cannot take me to a place, I tell them, and now you are saying it is not enough. Have you come to tell me?”
“This rubbish must stop. Don’t give the government a bad name. Moreover, you are an indigene of Abuja,” the minister said.
Wike pledged to revisit the location to see for himself, assuring the affected persons that the matter would be resolved.
