A mortuary has been gutted by fire at the Agagbe Community in Gwer-west Local Government Area of Benue State.

The inferno, which occurred on Friday evening was said to have led to the burning of bodies deposited at the morgue beyond recognition.

According to Daily Post, a resident of the community, Mr Ikyur, said the cause of the fire incident has not been unraveled, saying “it was a shock to everyone”.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that in January, a burning bush consumed over 400 corpses in a fire incident at the mortuary section of the General Hospital, Onitsha, Anambra State.

The fire, which was said to have emanated from a burning bush behind the morgue lasted about three hours and razed the mortuary building located behind the hospital facility.

Meanwhile, some persons have taken to their social media handles, particularly Facebook to react to the incident.

Anum Bemdoo: “Double wahala for dead body, maybe the Fulani herdsmen have come to finish what the started. Wahala no de finish.”

Adebayo Bamidele: “Every bad news is from Benue. This one shock me ooo. Rest In Peace to those dead bodies. Double wahala.”

Aondo Matthew: “Who knows, it could be one of those who deposited the bodies but have no money for burial that decided to end everything. Bad!”

Sunny G: “I hear say some of the dead bodies escaped ooo. This is the real definition of double wahala for dead body. May their souls rest in peace.”
