Seven suspects, who are part of the mob that lynched a 35-year-old driver on April 10 in Ondo state have been arrested, the police in the south west state have said.

The driver, Olorunfemi Tope, was involved in an accident that killed one person and injured others along Ijoka Road in Akure, the state capital.

Recall that the deceased was accused of being a ritualist following claims of discovery of fetish items in his car.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, on Monday, confirmed seven people were in custody.

According to her, Amos Victor, Boboye Ismail, Olatunji Samuel and Farotimi Pelumi are the principal suspects as they were among those captured in the video attacking the deceased.
The suspects would be arraigned in court on charges of arson and murder, after the conclusion of investigation.

The police spokesperson further warned that jungle justice is illegal and against the law.

“When there is an accident, our focus is on how to rescue the victims. It’s not in anybody’s place to kill anyone,” she stressed
