  • Sylva, a former Minister of State for Petroleum, is the flag bearer for the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
  • Slyva has recently resigned to seek a second term as governor.

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state’s off-cycle governorship election, cast his ballot at his polling unit.

It was reported that the sitting governor entered the polling unit just before nine in the morning and cast his ballot right away.

“There is an improvement in this election than all other elections. Very seeming less,” Diri said. He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The governor expressed his satisfaction with the personnel handling the process. He, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the events happening in Nembe, a region known for troubles.
