Gov. Aliyu and Senator Wammakko Extend Support to Rescued Kidnap Victims with N16.6 Million and Grains

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, and Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko have joined forces, contributing a total of N16.65 million and grains to aid the 66 recently rescued kidnap victims in Sokoto State. The victims, comprising nursing mothers with their babies, children, and the elderly, were rescued during military operations aimed at eliminating bandits from Gundumi forest. The rescues took place on Thursday and Saturday, with 52 individuals saved on the former and 14 on the latter.

Receiving the victims at the Government House on Sunday, Governor Aliyu expressed appreciation for the commendable efforts of security operatives, particularly members of Operation Hadarin Daji. He emphasized his government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and economic prosperity of Sokoto State.

Governor Aliyu stated, “Our government has made the security of lives and properties its priority. We have convened regular meetings with heads of security agencies since coming on board, providing necessary support and logistics to enhance their effectiveness.”

Condoling with families affected by bandit attacks, the governor acknowledged the sacrifices made and reassured the public of continued efforts to create a safe environment.

Senator Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, commended the combined efforts of the governor and security operatives in combatting banditry. As a gesture of support, he donated operational vehicles to each of the eight local government areas within his senatorial district.

The joint contributions and efforts of Governor Aliyu and Senator Wamakko demonstrate a collective commitment to addressing security challenges and supporting those affected by criminal activities in Sokoto State.
