  • -Goal is to reduce touting, harassment, and double taxation

Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), has vowed to eradicate criminal elements from Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Wike said this on Thursday at the ministerial press briefing in Abuja, ahead of the one-year anniversary of the President Bola Tinubu administration.

The FCT minister was responding to questions on the harassment Nigerians and visitors face on a daily basis when encountering these touts in the city.

“On the harassment by touts because of revenue collection and other things. We have called Abuja Municipal Area Council, (AMAC),” Wike said.

“In that way we reduce touting, we reduce harassment and this double taxation.

“Bear in mind that it is part of our responsibility. We’ll get rid of them, but it cannot just be immediately.”
