  • It also includes improved tracking and response mechanisms to ensure timely and effective action on reported cases.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has launched a new digital platform where Nigerians can report cases of cybercrimes

In a statement on Thursday, Muyiwa Adejobi, force spokesperson, said the domain would help combat cybercrime and enhance the safety and security of the country’s digital space.

Adejobi said the upgraded domain — www.nccc.npf.gov.ng/ereport/signin — has enhanced security measures to protect user information and ensure confidentiality,

“The new reporting platform, managed by the NPF National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), can be accessed at: [nccc.npf.gov.ng/ereport/signin],” Adejobi said.

The force spokesperson said the upgraded domain replaces the previous site — incb.npf.gov.ng.

Adejobi said the new domain has improved tracking and response mechanisms to ensure timely and effective action on reported cases.

He added that Kayode Egbetokun, inspector-general of police, has urged the public to use the new platform for reporting cybercrime activities.

In February 2024, President Bola Tinubu signed into law the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, ETC) Amendment Act, 2024.

The new act amended some sections of the 2015 cybercrimes act.

Meanwhile, stakeholders have been lamenting that security agencies are hiding under the cloak of the cybercrimes act to clampdown on journalists and activists.
