  • The Plateau State Government plans to close schools involved in examination malpractices, emphasizing that such actions harm educational standards significantly
  • Commissioner Mohammed Nyalun urged parents to discourage examination malpractice, warning that it jeopardizes children’s futures and undermines educational integrity

The Plateau State Government has announced plans to shut down schools found guilty of engaging in examination malpractices.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mr. Mohammed Nyalun, during the Speech and Prize/Graduation ceremony of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Staff School in Jos on Saturday. Represented by Mr. Dalyop Pam from the Jos South Area Education Directorate, Nyalun emphasized that examination malpractices contribute significantly to the decline in educational standards, and such practices will no longer be tolerated.

Nyalun highlighted that schools engaging in such unethical behaviour are cheating and harming children’s futures. He urged parents not to encourage their children to participate in examination malpractice, noting, “They won’t be able to defend those results.”

He praised the ITF Staff School, describing it as one of the best in the state for educating and moulding young students’ character. Nyalun warned, however, that any school involved in examination malpractice would be closed down.

Musa also extended his gratitude to the teachers, acknowledging their tireless efforts in educating and inspiring students to develop their intellect, explore their talents, and strive for excellence. “Your selfless commitment to their growth and well-being is truly commendable,” he added.

The school’s head boy, Master Joshua Adam, expressed his gratitude to the school for shaping their character and preparing them for higher education. Similarly, the head girl, Miss Rahama Musa said that the knowledge and experience they gained at ITF Staff School would last a lifetime.
