  • President Bola Tinubu has allocated 1,200 bags of fertiliser to each senator and 600 to House members to support farmers
  • The initiative aims to enhance agricultural productivity by providing essential inputs, moving beyond mere food aid distribution to farmers

According to Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, President Bola Tinubu has provided each senator with 1,200 bags of fertiliser for distribution to farmers in their districts.

Bamidele made this statement on Monday in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, while distributing 5,000 bags of fertiliser to farmers in his Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

He also mentioned that President Tinubu allocated 600 bags of fertiliser to each member of the House of Representatives for farmers in their constituencies.

Bamidele explained that President Tinubu’s initiative is part of his short-term strategy to support the agricultural sector, moving beyond merely distributing food aid. The goal is to help farmers increase productivity by providing essential farm inputs.

“The president believes that we should go beyond sharing rice and focus on investing in agriculture. The distribution of fertiliser is aimed at supporting farmers, not political parties or any other groups,” Bamidele said.

In addition to the 1,200 bags allocated by the president, Bamidele secured extra funds to provide 5,000 bags for farmers in his district. He urged beneficiaries to use the fertiliser for its intended purpose and discouraged selling it.

“Please don’t collect it if you won’t use it. The government is encouraging everyone to get involved in farming, and these resources are meant to support that effort,” Bamidele advised.
