  • Novelty match to usher in the new administration of Senator Monday Okpebholo in grand style

In Benin City, plans for a novelty football match between former Nigerian internationals and AKPAKOMIZA X1 Stars in honour of Edo State Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his Deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, are well underway.

The promoters of the November 11 novelty football match, which is claimed to be one of the several pre-inauguration activities, have established a collaboration with Spires Media and A&K Construction Ltd as official match sponsors.

While Spires Media is the official sponsor of the match jerseys, A&K will handle all of the match logistics.

Spires Media are the organisers of Nigeria’s foremost 5-Aside Football Tournament while A& K Constructions are said to be the leaders in the industry.

Making this disclosure over the weekend, the Spokesman of the organisers, Frank Ilaboya, who is a former Chairman of Edo State Football Association, commended the management of both organisations for coming on board for the success of the match.

“Yes, partners and sponsors have started rolling in as we put finishing touches to the much anticipated novelty match,” said the renowned sports journalist.

He further explained that the idea behind the novelty match was to usher in the new administration of Senator Monday Okpebholo in grand style and also to signal the revival of sports in the state.

The novelty football match said to have been embraced by former Super Eagles players, especially indigenes of Edo State, would be played at the iconic Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
