  • In January 2024, Tinubu issued a directive which the Presidency said was to reduce government expenditure.
  • The directive reduced the entourage on foreign trips from 50 to 20 officials and from 50 to 25 officials for local trips.
  • Similarly, he reduced the Vice President’s entourage to five officials on foreign trips and 15 for local trips.

President Bola Tinubu has mandated ministers and federal agency heads to downsize their convoy vehicles to three.

Bayo Onanuga, presidential adviser on Information and Strategy, announced in a Thursday statement that the directive aims to reduce governance costs.

Additionally, Tinubu ordered ministers and agency heads to limit their security details to five personnel.

“In the directive issued today, President Tinubu also ordered all ministers, ministers of state, and heads of agencies to have at most five security personnel attached to them,” the statement reads.
