Kidnappers have killed Former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, David Shikfu Parradang.

He was reportedly killed by the kidnappers who abducted him in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Security and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, Parradang, confirmed the tragic incident.

According to him, Parradang was abducted in the Area 1 axis of Abuja in the early hours of Tuesday.

Makama disclosed that the assailants trailed him from a bank where he had withdrawn money, abducted him, took the cash he withdrew and killed him.

“The tragic incident has raised fresh concerns over security in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly regarding the increasing cases of kidnappings and targeted attacks,” Makama said in a post.

The troubling development further underscores the severity of the security crisis across the country as armed non-state actors continue to unleash terror on innocent citizens.

Parradang had a sterling career in NIS where served for over 30 years, holding various positions across the country, including Comptroller General.

In recognition of his service, he was awarded the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and was a distinguished graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

Security agencies are said to have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his abduction and killing, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.

The Nigerian Immigration Service is yet to confirm the tragic development but an official at Immigration headquarters in Abuja confirmed the tragic incident.

“The report is true but we need to wait for Immigration authorities to make official publication,” Daily Trust quoted the official as saying.

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command is yet to comment on the unfortunate incident.
