It achieved full autonomous status in 1962, at which time it was renamed the University of Ibadan.
Since then, it has grown to become an internationally-renowned institution with over 40,000 students and over 450 academic staff. It is particularly well-known for its postgraduate school, which offers a variety of courses across the sciences, humanities and social sciences. In addition to its undergraduate degrees, it also offers a range of master’s and doctoral programmes.
We will go through UI postgraduate school courses, admission requirements and how to apply, but first, let’s start with the different types of postgraduate admission the University of Ibadan offers.
Types Of University of Ibadan Postgraduate School Admission
If you want to further your studies, the University of Ibadan Postgraduate School can be just the place for you. While all three types of admission offer something unique, they all provide a strong educational foundation. Here’s a quick overview of the admissions:
Full-time Admission
The most popular form of admission, full-time entry, provides you with requisite coursework and access to the school’s resources. Due to the morning lecture times for this form of admission, students are required to constantly remain on school grounds. Students aren’t allowed to participate in office work or any other task that can only be completed in the morning.
As an alternative, you might request assistance from your company in rearranging your work hours so that you can concentrate on your academic work. If you choose to go in this direction, you will need to give the administration of the school a reference letter from your organization.
Part-time Admission
This is Ideal for those who want to combine work and study part-time. This means that attending classes won’t have a negative impact on your job.
You will need to inform your organization of your desire to further your study. This will make it easier for you to communicate with your manager at work and will go a long way toward assisting you in juggling between work and school.
Occasional Postgraduate Student
This kind of Admission is uncommon, and only a few highly regarded institutions offer it. With this kind of admission, you have the chance to start a particular program without having any expectations of completing it or earning a postgraduate degree.
