Duration of Degree Programme

The Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) program must last a minimum of 10 semesters. Direct entrance candidates with ND/NCE and similar degrees must complete a minimum of 8 semesters, whereas those with HND degrees must complete a minimum of 6 semesters.

A candidate must meet the following basic requirements in order to be admitted to any of the University’s first-degree programs:

1. The Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent, with at least two sittings and credit level passes in five (5) subjects. Additionally, the applicant must pass the UTME, the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

2. Candidates must have at least five (5) O/L credits, two of which must be at the Advanced Level or approved equivalents, in order to be admitted by direct entry into the 200 level.

Department-specific Entrance Requirement

The University’s admissions policy and the NUC regulations serve as the foundation for the requirements for admission to the Civil Engineering degree.

UTME Requirements

A candidate must have at least five (5) credit passes in SSCE or NECO (O’ Level), obtained in no more than two sittings, in order to be admitted to any program. These credits must include English Language, Mathematics, and any other relevant subjects.

Candidates who have passed the Osun State University’s Pre-Degree Program Examination and have received an acceptable score on the UTME may also be admitted to the department’s 5-year degree program.

Requirements for Direct Entry

Candidates with OND, NCE (Upper Credit), and HND (minimum of Lower Credit) from any higher institution recognized by the University Senate may be admitted into the 200-level, provided that they meet the UTME admission requirements of the Department. Candidates with Advanced Level (A-Level) passes in relevant subjects, which must include Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, may also be admitted.

Candidates who successfully complete Osun State University’s Advanced Diploma Program may also be admitted to the 200-level, provided they meet the Department’s UTME admission requirements.

General Criteria For Osun State University Post Graduate Admission

All applicants seeking admission to any of the Osun State University’s postgraduate programs must have a minimum of 5 credits, comprising English Language and four other relevant subjects, achieved at no more than two sittings unless otherwise specified. Candidates holding “O” Level Examination results from up to 2017 must produce original copies of their certificates for screening because Statements of Results and/or Result Slips are not accepted.

Candidates applying for master’s degree programs in the academic field must have earned at least a Second Class (Lower Division) in their undergraduate studies. Candidates for Ph.D. admission must earn a Master’s degree and have a minimum weighted average score of 60% or CGPA of 3.50.

Except for nursing, medicine, law, common and Islamic law, which have a cut-off mark of 200, UNIOSUN has a minimum UTME score requirement of 160. Candidates who listed UNIOSUN as their first-choice preference in the recently completed UTME are invited to apply to Osun State University, Osogbo, for admission to their desired department.
