    NSCDC arrests 10 suspected oil thieves in Lagos

    No fewer than ten suspected oil thieves have been arrested by the operatives of Lagos Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

    Parading the suspects, NSCDC Commandant, Lagos Command, Mr. Paul Ayeni, said the suspects were caught with 60, 000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil(AGO) suspected to have been illegally mined.

    Ayeni said the arrest attributed the arrest which took place on January 23 to the collaboration between NSCDC and Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS).

    He said: ”The names of the suspects are Okriko Ebi, (45); Monday Otuagomah,(44); Olumide Ikuyiminy(53); Binabi Males(40) and Pius Ayeni(45).

    “Others are Moses Ajimisan(33); Maurice Blessing(30); Barry Omoseye(49); Idowu Ekundayo(37) and Wisdom Blessing(30),” he said.

    The NSCDC boss said the suspects were intercepted in a wooden boat in the Badagary area of Lagos state.

    ” The boat which had 10 crewmen, was intercepted at 2 a .m on the day. The suspects couldn’t present any official license to mine,” he added.

    FG confirms Madu as NSCDC Commandant General

    A Deputy Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Hillary Kelechi Madu, has finally assumed office as the Acting Commandant General following the Federal government confirmation.

    Madu succeeded the former CG, Abdullahi Gana, whose extended tenure of six months expired on Monday January 18.

    On Friday, the spokesman, DCC Emmanuel Okeh, announced that Madu has been confirmed as the Acting CG.

    In a statement, Okeh said Madu thanked the federal government and the Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola for the opportunity to lead the corps.

    Madu promised to continue in the execution of the agency’s mandate to justify the confidence reposed in him.

    He assured of his determination “to rejig the system and personnel in order to ensure effective service delivery especially in Agro Rangers operations and the Protection of Critical and National Assets.”

    Suspected Fulani herdsmen attack livestock guards, kill one, injured NSCDC officer in Benue

    Members of the Benue State Livestock Guards and Agro Rangers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen militia, leaving one person dead and one other severely injured.

    This attack was confirmed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, retired Colonel Paul Hemah on Saturday while briefing journalists in Makurdi.

    Colonel Hemah said the Livestock Guards and NSCSC personnel were ambushed on their way back from patrol in Mbalagh Council Ward of Makurdi Local Government Area on Friday, January 15.

    He noted that the herder’s militia laid siege on both sides of the road and opened fire on their targets, killing a personnel of the Livestock Guards on the spot while a member of the Agro Rangers was badly injured.

    According to the Security Adviser, men of the Operation Whirl Stroke were immediately contacted and swiftly rushed to the scene of the incident, even as they could not find the assailants who retreated on motorbikes.

    He stated that suspected herdsmen militia had targeted personnel of the Livestock Guards and Agro Rangers in recent times in the State ostensibly to intimidate and deter them from performing their duties.

    Hemah said the attackers come in a guerrilla manner and retreat immediately after accomplishing their mission, making it difficult to trail and arrest them.

    Benue State Commander of the Livestock Guards, Linus Zaki said his men were attacked near Zongo on their way back from routine patrol in Mbalagh around 6pm, adding however that they would not be deterred nor pushed into surrendering the land to the marauders.

    NSCDC parade 10 suspected Criminals in Kwara

    Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 10 suspects over an alleged vandalisation of transformer, armed robbery and for being in possession of hard drugs.

    Parading the suspects at the NSCDC command headquarters in Ilorin, on Monday, the commandant, Mr Makinde Ayinla, said the suspects were arrested at various locations in the state during the yuletide.

    The NSCDC boss who said that officers and men of the command kept vigil during the holiday period, added that the operations yielded positive results.

    He also said that some of the suspects were arrested at Tanke area of the Ilorin metropolis while vandalising transformer.

    Ayinla said that members of another group were arrested during a robbery operation at a hotel in Ilorin, adding that other members of the gang escaped.

    He said that the third group include those caught with hard drugs.

    The NSCDC commandant said all those arrested will be handed over to the appropriate quarters as soon as investigations were completed.

    He urged all criminal elements in the state to turn a new leaf and remain law-abiding.

    Mr Ayinla said the command will collaborate with other security agencies to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the state.

    I was only warming the air – NSCDC personnel accused of shooting two dead in Benue says (VIDEO)

    A personnel of the Nigeria Civil Defense and Security Corps (NSCDC), Sunday Adakole Ada, who allegedly killed two youths in Otukpo on Christmas Day, has described the incident as unintentional.

    The NSCDC personnel said he was only warming the air when the incident happened.

    According to reports, a certain Jennifer Robert and another young man were reportedly killed while seeking fun in Otukpo on Christmas Day.

    While many had claimed they were killed while trying to touch one of the invited artistes, other versions of the report claimed they were shot by fellow cult members on Ochacho Avenue, the venue of the star-studded carnival ground.

    Speaking after his arrest in a video, the suspect who is currently in custody, said he was only trying to warm the air

    According to him “I was only on patrol with my team when I decided to warm the air.

    “After that, I was told one person died and one other injured. It was not intentional”

    NSCDC arrest man 29, for defiling neighbor’s 4-year-old daughter in Lagos

    The Lagos state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC) has arrested a 29-year-old man identified as Odife Edwin for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s four-year-old girl.

    WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the suspect who was paraded on Wednesday, December 23 was arrested after the alleged assault and defilement was reported to the command on December 21 by one Mrs Funke Balogun, the victim’s mother.

    Balogun alleged that Edwin assaulted and defiled her four-year-old daughter by inserting one of his fingers in her private part

    The State Commandant, Mr Paul Ayeni revealed that the victim told her mother that the suspect popularly called `Br K.C’ touched her private part with his finger severally after she observed her movement and asked.

    Ayeni who disclosed that the report of the medical examination conducted on the girl at a government hospital confirmed a case of forceful and blunt penetration into the victim’s vagina repeatedly, told newsmen that the suspect would be transferred to the appropriate agency handling such cases for further investigation and possible prosecution.

    When questioned by newsmen, the suspect denied the allegation and said;

    “I did not set my eyes on her the day I was accused of the offence.”

    NSCDC arrests man 35, over the disappearance of a teenage girl in Nasarawa

    A 35-year-old man identified as Musa Salihu Osike has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command for allegedly abducting a 16-year-old girl, Fatima Salihu in Nasarawa.

    The arrest was confirmed on Monday by the spokesman of the NSCDC corps, Surajo Idris.

    The spokesman said the suspect is alleged to be responsible for the sudden disappearance of Fatima, a member of the First Aid Group of the Young Muslim Congress of Nigeria in Giza Development Area of Keana Local Government of the state.

    WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the suspect who is the Commander of the First Aid Group in Keana Local Government, and the missing girl hail from Giza Development Area.

    “We investigated and found out that the suspect invited Fatima Salihu and some 10 other members of the aid group to accompany him to attend a naming ceremony in Lafia, after an hour at the venue of the naming ceremony, the suspect, Salihu Osike, took them to Unguwan Nungu in Lafia, the state capital for refreshments,” said Idris.

    “He returned all of them to Giza in his vehicle but later called Fatima Salihu to come and collect a new phone he purchased for her. She reportedly left Giza for Lafia and since then, her whereabouts have remained unknown. The  suspect was arrested after being on the run since the incident happened,” he added.

    The NSCDC said that State Commandant of the First Aid Group, Alhaji Hassan Abdullahi has suspended the suspect for the alleged act.

    The suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.

    NSCDC arrest fake Army Major in Nasarawa

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has arrested a 46 years old Amos John Ewuga, for alleged impersonation, job racketeering and defrauding.

    A statement signed Muhammed Suraj Idris, PRO of the command said the arrest was a result of series of complaints received against him.

    Idris said the Corps mounted surveillance and arrested the suspect along Akwanga-Keffi-Abuja road.

    He said, Ewuga, who hailed from Nasarawa Eggon Local Government of Nasarawa State has been impersonating as a Major of the the Nigerian Army.

    “He has also confessed to have extorted money running into millions of naira from innocent job seekers with the promise to provide jobs opportunities for them in Nigerian Army, Air Force, Navy and other paramilitary agencies”
    “Ewuga had also defrauded hundreds of people within and outside Nasarawa State of their cash and other belongings on the pretence of Nigerian Army personnel”
    “A dark tinted Army colour Highlander Jeep with registration number RBC 398 JM was recovered from him.”

    The statement said he will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.

    We were attacked by herdsmen in Ondo, Amotekun discloses

    The Southwest Sceurity Network code-named Amotekun, Ondo state chapter has disclosed that some herdsmen attacked its operatives on a farm at Osi community, Akure north local government area of the state.

    This disclosure was made by the commander of corps, Adetunji Adeleke while addressing journalists in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday.

    Adeleye said the operatives were attacked while trying to settle a rift between herdsmen and some farmers in the community.

    “Some farmers from Osi  Community ran to the office complaining that their farms had been destroyed by herds.  We sent our men there to assess the situation,” he said.

    “They found out that the herds were actually on the farm and we invited the herdsmen. But unfortunately, on getting there, they attacked our men with knives and other dangerous weapons. But we were able to arrest one of them named Abdulkadir Mohammed.”

    Adeleye also said two suspected cattle rustlers were arrested by his men while a Nissan Siena marked FJ 423 KRD, brought by the suspected rustlers was impounded

    “One Alhaji Ilyasu, a Fulani man came to us that some people came with a Serena Bus to steal their cattle. They came to us and we sent our men out. We were able to recover the vehicle they wanted to  used in stealing the cows, we also recovered the cows,” he added.

    “We were able to trace some of the rustlers that ran away to somewhere in Ogun State. We have apprehended one Sudauna Gombe and one Ogunyale Sola, who was the driver of the abandoned Serena. We have handed them over to the Agro Department of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for detailed investigation.

    “We recovered two cows, which we have returned to the Fulani man that owns them, and we brought the vehicle to our office here because the rustlers ran away and abandoned the vehicle.”

    Video of an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) caught on camera partaking in the looting of a warehouse in the federal capital territory has surfaced online.

    Recall that a mob on Monday attacked a warehouse at Gwagwalada area council about 9:00 am.

    WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the said warehouse which comprises of food items such as bags of grains, rice and cartons of noodles and spaghetti belongs to the agricultural and rural development secretariat of the FCT administration.

    In the video which has gone viral, an NSCDC officer was spotted holding three small bags of rice.

    Some people can be heard in the video hailing the NSCDC officer, saying “Officer, officer, officer of the law!!!”.
